What is Antithesis?

Antithesis is an innovative combination of a card game and a war game, designed for competitive 1v1 play. It also has great potential for additional game modes that have not begun to be explored. The game unfolds on a gridded map of 1-inch squares, measuring 27 inches wide and 21 inches deep. Players engage in strategic battles, blending the unpredictability of card draws with the tactical depth of miniature warfare.

Dice Mechanics and Resource Management:

A distinctive feature of Antithesis is its innovative use of dice. Unlike traditional miniatures games where dice rolls introduce randomness at the end of your decision tree, Antithesis employs the Dice Bank system. Dice are rolled when you obtain them and are then stored in the Dice Bank as a resource. Players openly manage these dice to play cards, power attacks, or activate card abilities. This system adds a strategic layer to resource management, allowing players to plan and execute their moves more deliberately, reducing the reliance on randomized outcomes.

Card Mechanics:

In Antithesis, players choose champions from various factions, each granting access to unique cards that can be added to their decks. Like a traditional trading card game, players draw and play cards. However, the twist is that each card played also brings a corresponding miniature onto the game board. This miniature represents the card and is placed on the grid, ready to be moved and utilized in battle.

Miniature Movement and Dynamic Gameplay:

Once on the board, these miniatures can move and attack as in a traditional war game. Additionally, players can use cards to introduce terrain effects, dynamically altering the battlefield and adding layers of strategic complexity. This integration of card mechanics with board-based movement creates a unique and engaging gameplay experience, where adaptability is key.

Objective and Strategy:

As the game progresses, players maneuver their miniatures to control key areas of the board that become critical for earning victory points. Keeping opponents out of these areas while securing them for yourself is essential to winning the game. Players can attack their opponent’s cards or miniatures, employing various strategies to gain an advantage. Whether you prefer aggressive assaults or defensive tactics, Antithesis offers a diverse range of playstyles to master.
