Antithesis: A Game by Mallesh Gopalswami
I am Mallesh Gopalswami, the creator of Antithesis. Born in the late 70s, I fall into the tail end of Generation X. I grew up with G1 Transformers, GI Joe, and Voltron, and I was heavily into comics from the late 80s to the 2000s, both Marvel and DC. I even got into and out of anime before it became mainstream in the late 2000s.
My gaming journey includes nearly two decades of playing CCGs competitively. In the last 10 years, I seriously got into miniature or war games. While these games were cool and looked impressive on a table, I noticed that their gameplay was not as diverse or varied as the card games I had played earlier. This led me to wonder if there was a way to combine the two.
I currently work as a network engineer and have a strong technical background. Over the past decade, I have poured my time and effort into developing Antithesis, refining various versions with valuable feedback from different people throughout the process. The game has evolved significantly since its first iteration.
My goal was to create a game that combines the dynamic gameplay of a card game with the tactical movement of war game pieces on a board. Dissatisfied with traditional dice mechanics, I created the Dicebank system to enhance the experience. I aimed to merge these genres into a game that could be completed in under an hour.
I believe Antithesis has now reached the point where it is ready for a wider audience, and I am excited to share it with the world.
